Good Morning Mullyrodden

Half asleep, I sense —
weanlings, fatstock prices —
the mood across the Province.
Half six and facts flood in.
Five to seven — half an inch
of them drowns fields
at Mullyrodden.

Signposts at Ballygawley/Aughnacloy.
Diversions. Temporary traffic
lights at Magheraknock.
Calming on the watery A4.
But at Glengalliagh (last week) —
travellers; affray;
near murder.

'Now here's —
(Hard news. Soft news.
Trade desperate in Portadown)
— Malachi with the papers.'
Then Aisling? Tina? Seamus?

Wendy in the other studio —
bored with a Westminster
heavyweight, tries a 'Briefly please.'

Half awake
with half an hour to go.
Malachi with another take.
Aisling's last report.
And Donald from the Met.
Office — improving, not so bad.

Still waters at Glengalliagh/
Ballygawley/Magheraknock/
Aughnacloy. At Mullyrodden a new lake…

And now — 'Adam Coates; The Sport'.

Wha? — 'Thanks Adam'

'The Sport!'

'Thanks Ad….'
