for Guantanamo Bay,
for the men who protect the American Way,
and the people who know but have nothing to say,
and Alberto Gonzales, who gave the okay!

for whoever they are
who decided, while smoking a smuggled cigar,
that torture's invisible, viewed from afar,
in the shadow of hammer and sickle and star!

Gimme a "G"
for whoever they be
that interpret the rights of the citizenry
as disposable notions (except when it's me)
'cause a right's not a right when we're frightened, you see!

Gimme a shout
for the people with clout
who would put the Geneva Convention in doubt,
who would say of James Madison, Throw the bum out!
and forget what America once was about.
